Holiday prices fell again for the third month running in June, according to price analysis by Cheeky Trip. 2024 has now seen five months of year-on-year holiday price decreases out of the last six months (prices rose slightly in March). The table below illustrates the year-on-year price differences for the first six months of 2024.

Short-haul holiday prices were flat in June, whereas long-haul prices decreased by 10% overall, compared to June 2023. This is opposed to May 2024 prices – when short haul prices fell by 7%, while long haul prices increased slightly by 1%. Prices to Portugal saw the biggest year-on-year price increase in June (+12%), while holidays to Spain, Bulgaria, and Malta all fell (-10%, -7%, -7%).
Holiday prices to the Caribbean increased by 7%, yet prices to Mexico and Cape Verde fell (-11% and -30%) compared to June 2023. Deals to Egypt were again quite flat (-1%), after a -1% fall in May, and a -2% fall in April - following months of heavy price falls (-26% in March, -26% in February, and -35% in January)).

Just like in May, holiday prices fell across the full range of departure dates in June. Last-minute deals departing in 1 week dropped -2%, holidays departing in one month dropped -5%, and holidays departing in 6 months decreased slightly as well (-1%).
“It is great to see a consistent trend of reduced holiday prices in the first half of 2024 compared with 2023, and it will be interesting to see how this pans out in the second half of the year,” says Steve Campion, Managing Director at Cheeky Trip. “There are plenty of opportunities to grab a holiday bargain this year if you are flexible about your travel destination. Using a price comparison website or speaking to a travel agent are great ways to find the cheapest travel deals” continues Steve.
