Sosua is a resort in the Dominican Republic that is most well-known for its spectacular white sandy beach: Sosua Beach. It is located in a sheltered cove surrounded by coral cliffs which leaves it fairly protected from the elements. The beach is by far the best attraction on Sosua. The soft, white sands are ideal for sunbathing, beach activities and even just beach strolls late in the evening and early in the morning. These sands are accompanied by crystal-clear waters that remain calm most of the year. El Batey, a small town located just off the beach, is the best place to visit for high-end shopping and seeing pretty gardens. On the other end of the beach is Los Charamicos which retains its authentic, local market charm. For a day-trip outside of the resort, be sure to head to the neighbouring Puerto Plata.

Sosua has a reputation for having a fantastic selection of accommodation choices at much more reasonable prices than big tourist resorts like Puerto Plata. The resort still has luxurious hotels and apartments, the only compromise that you will have to make is that there are slightly less people about than in the larger resorts.
