Karavados is a quiet, traditional village that sits at the bottom of Mt Ainos in Kefalonia. It is surrounded by tall pine trees as well as fields of olive and citrus groves. There isn’t much to do in terms of nightlife here and it is much like most resorts in Kefalonia - best enjoyed at a laid-back pace whilst enjoying the stunning scenery.

Karavados is at its busiest during the summer period which runs from about mid-spring to mid-autumn, although rarely gets busy at any point in the year. During this time, temperatures reach the high 20s and even into the 30s on most days. Prices tend to be slightly cheaper outside of these months from autumn to spring but not massively as this place is very affordable all year round! Aside from a bit of walking in a few scenic routes, there isn’t much to do here in the cooler months so we recommend a trip when the weather is warmer.

Although Karavados doesn’t have its own beach, there are plenty of wonderful spots to check out near the resort. One of the biggest beaches in the region - Agios Thomas - is located just down the road from Karavados and Trapezaki Beach is just a few minutes along the coast too. Karavados has its own selection of small, sandy and secluded areas but they aren’t sign-posted in the resort. The village has a large church in the centre and the atmosphere around there is pleasant. If you want a more lively night out, be sure to check out nearby Lassi and Skala.

The accommodation in Karavados tends to be on the smaller end of the scale with the vast portion being made up of private villas and apartments available for rent. The dining scene is similar with one main restaurant in the village as well as a mini market for collecting all of the essentials. This place is great if you are seeking a minimalistic holiday but for more options, you should have a look at places like Skala and the capital of Kefalonia, Argostoli.
