Flaine ski & snowboard holidays take you to the Haute Savoie region of the French Alps. It is a very popular purpose built resort that was carefully designed to blend into the natural environment. The resort has two areas that are connected by free lifts. The upper, at seventeen hundred metres, is Flaine Foret, the lower at sixteen hundred metres is Flaine Forum. Much of the skiing is in a wide bowl and it is a superb place for families and novices. Although Flaine has an enviable snow record, should there be a shortfall, it has over two hundred snow cannons which ensure good cover throughout the season. As well a being a popular family resort, Flaine is a boarder's paradise as apart from the large bowl, the resort has one of the best snow parks in the country. As part of the Grand Massif ski area, Flaine has a total of one hundred and sixty five kilometres of piste which accommodate all levels of expertise.
As a fairly high altitude resort, Flaine has doorstep skiing which is a great advantage when holidaying with children. The highest lift reaches twenty-five thousand metres and there are seventy-seven in total. Those new to the sport will quickly find their ski legs on the nursery slopes close to the village which are accessed by free lifts. The ski schools have an excellent reputation and with increased confidence, beginners can head up the mountain and experience the exhilarating run back down to the village. Intermediates have a vast choice of terrain with many challenging red runs. Choose the great bowl or the many tree lined runs to neighbouring reorts. Advanced skiers & boarders have a choice of difficult black runs as well as testing off-piste terrain. In the interests of safety, do remember to take an experienced mountain guide. Boarders flock to Flaine as the wide open pistes are ideal for their sport and the snow park is second to none. Cross country skiers have seventy kilometres of groomed trails.
